Midnight Jewel
A champion twice over
Hello, my name is Midnight Jewel, but everyone here calls me Jewel. I’m a 29-year-old Standardbred mare with an incredible racing and breeding history that still rattles people who look it up. I earned over $750,000 on the track, produced many successful foals (one of them, Night Pro, earned over a million dollars), and lived a champion’s life before everything changed.
After my productive years, I was sadly discarded and ended up in an auction, advertised as a much younger ’17-year-old trail horse.’ In April 2026, Mane Characters rescued me along with my new friend Ruby. We arrived together from New York, finished our quarantine period, and are now bonded and safe. I’m already enjoying the beautiful Kentucky grass and the peace of knowing I’ll never face hunger or neglect again. At my age, I’ve earned this soft landing with excellent care, new friends, and a sanctuary that truly values my story. Every Horse A Tale To Tell… and mine is one of champion bloodlines, motherhood, and a well-deserved, dignified retirement at Mane Characters.

Something to know
Jewel's progeny, Night Pro, is in the Michigan Hall of Fame. Her other foals almost all won a lot of money on the track. She's the rare combination of a champion racer and a champion broodmare.
